WIRED-2-FISH.COM -- For the second consecutive year, Massachusetts pro Mark Burgess will follow his dreams on the Bassmaster Elite Series, and for the second time, he will also chronicle his season through a journal on ESPNOutdoors.com.
The journal will feature the ups and downs of life on the road for a sophomore pro trying to gain a foothold in the ultra competitive world of professional bass fishing.
“I just want to be able to share my experiences of what it is like to fish at this level and what life is like on the road for a professional bass angler,” Burgess said. “I think the journal is a great way to provide inspiration to those who have aspirations of becoming a professional angler.”

The river had come down nicely and really cleared up over the last few days. I have been itching to get out on the river for that famous ice out pike bite... The new guy (Mike) and I launched from Rocky Hill at 7 this morning in 34 degree temps and snow. I had a couple of areas that I really had high hopes for, we were dressed warm so it was hammer down to spot number one. We were both throwing Reaction Strike Revolution Shads. Mike had a blue back and I was throwing pearl. We fished along the banks and were casting into about 3 feet of water and workiong back out to 8 or so. Mike got hit first. The water is still wicked cold at about 38" so they fish didn't make any big runs but the fight seemed to last a bit longer if that makes any sense. What a fish it was! KEEP READING...

Recently, Reaction Strike's Revolution Shad was tested against the Sebile Magic Swimmer, the Spro BBZ-1, Savage Gear's 4-Play, and many other well known lures. The winner? Reaction Strike's Revolution Shad was voted the best Trophy Catching lure of the group!
Reaction Strike recently attended EFFTEX, the largest fishing tackle trade show in Europe. This year, the show was held in Budapest, Hungary. Reaction Strike displayed many new products to the European market, and also displayed both Culprit and Musky Innovations products. Reaction Strike serves as the European sales agent for these two brands.
The show was heavily attended this year and Reaction Strike signed up many new distributors in over a dozen countries in Europe.

Reaction Strike recently setup shop at the Bassmaster Classic Outdoors Expo in Shreveport, Louisianna. Tackle Tour had this to say about Reaction Strike:
Reaction Strike: Rick Quade of Reaction Strike was on hand to show off a host of new baits. Reaction Strike seems to bring more baits to market than any other bait company I can think of. They always have new baits, some along the lines of other hot baits, but more and more they are coming out with new baits or at least old baits with new wrinkles. They have also released a new line of swimbait rods designed by and named for one of the best swimbait designers in the industry, Matt Servant of Mattlures.
MattLures Swimbait Rods: There are two lines of MattLures swimbait rods. For lack of a better description, for this article we will call them a low end and a high end line. Both lines come with 5 different rod length, strength and action combinations. The high end comes with SIC guides and all top of the line components. The low end comes with Fuji Hardloy guides. No matter which action you prefer for you big baits, the Mattlures series of rods should have a model to fit.
The one thing that sets these rods apart from other swimbait rods is the expandable handle. By expandable handle I mean the literally the handle below the reel extends down, instead of the typical above the reel telescopic rods often used in flipping sticks. The expandable handle allows the rod to be used extended for extra casting control and distance with big baits or collapsed for less interference when working oversized top water baits like a Black Dog Lunker Punker. The rods are on the market now and can be purchased at Tackle Warehouse.

Reaction Strike Pro Staffer Captain Mike Friday had an outstanding year while fishing in the ESPN O'Boy Oberto Redfish Cup Tour in 2008.
The ESPN Redfish Cup consisted of 5 tournaments including a championship in 2008 and was composed of the top 50 professional Redfish anglers in the United States.
Friday and his partner Captain Danny Latham recorded 2 top 20's, 2 top 10's and a top 5 to finish the year with honors as 3rd place in "Team of the Year".

Here in Wisconsin where winter raged on and ice covered the lakes for 6 months (that’s half the year folks!) I sat in front of the DVR and watched the April Bassmaster Elite Series events—The Lone Star Shootout on Falcon Lake and the Battle on the Border on Lake Amistad. The common demominator I noticed in both events was the fact that majority of the Anglers that made the final 12 were fishing Swimbaits.
These baits have been popular out west with a class of angler’s that fish for hawgs (10lb+ class largemouth) that feed on calorie rich trout. In order to “match the hatch” and mimic the forage base, these Western Anglers typically utilize swimbaits ranging from 7” and up. As the popularity is spreading regarding the effectiveness of swimbaits across the country, particularly in their consistent ability to elicit the big bite, many companies are developing their prototypes in order to market these life-like baits to match the dominate forage base in their region’s lakes and river impoundments.
