Here on the Chesapeake, the big sea run rockfish are moving in and eating shad up to 12 inches. I spent Thursday on the Bay with a few friends and we slow trolled all the channel breaks. Had a shad clone on a down rigger that really produced some awesome results for us.

Our total count for the day was 20 fish, with the average size being in the 35 inch range. My biggest was 47 inches long with a 32 inch girth, weighting in as just over 44 pounds.

Best regards,

UPDATE, 04/13/09: Another successful week out on the Susquehanna Flats here in Maryland. Leave it to me to only bring a camera on the last day. We've caught well over 50 rockfish ranging from 20 to 50 pounds this past week. We've been slow trolling crankbaits and the Reaction Strike Shad Clone (in Gizzard Shad) and have been pulling in some awesome fish. This is just one of many, and this is on the smaller side of what we are catching!!
